After ordering the desired background check (Standard or Plus), you will receive a personalized link. Please forward this link to your prospective tenant (unfortunately, we cannot do this directly without their prior consent). Your prospective tenant verifies her identity, provides information about her personal background, and approves temporary read only permissions for bank statements. Once the process is complete, the tenant profile will be created and sent to you via email.

Mietspector specifically conducts KYC, CDD, creditworthiness and affordability checks for the “Use Case Tenant Profile”, which are incomparably deeper and more targeted than similar offers. Specifically, we differ in that: • Performing biometric identity verification ​​ • Comprehensive KYC checks (e.g. comparison with national and international watchlists, sanctions lists, PEP lists, negative media) ​ • Comprehensive CDD (including examination of personal and economic backgrounds and any edicts) ​ • Targeted credit check regarding liquidity management, based on account activity over the last (up to) 365 days. Other providers issue credit reports based on negative entries, if any (e.g., payment defaults/delays) – however, our banking experience shows that for regular transaction types such as rent ("fixed costs"), liquidity management capability is more meaningful. ​ • We use only data that has been provided by the interested party for this purpose or that is publicly available. We do not use any other data sources, purchase data, or otherwise trade data. We provide information on the reliability, which is based on the amount of available and verified data.

We obtain data exclusively from your prospective tenant directly and from public registers. We do not purchase any data.

We place the highest value on data protection and are GDPR compliant. We do not share any data with third parties who are not our service providers and never trade in data. Our cybersecurity standards meet the highest industry standards.

Our models also work with limited data – however, the more data, the better the result. Therefore, our reports include a "reliability index" which allows conclusions to be drawn about the reliability of the results.

Unused packages can be used for other prospective tenants.

Purchased packages can be cancelled and refunded within 14 days of purchase, provided they have not yet been used or started.

Once we have your prospective tenant's data and consent, you will automatically receive their tenant profile via email within minutes. Unfortunately, we cannot control when your prospective tenant provides their data, but we make the process as simple and quick as possible for them; typically, the process only takes a few minutes.

Your prospective tenant only discloses as much data as she wishes. Naturally, the more data we have available, the more accurate the result. However, we also work with publicly available, official data. ​ To complete the process, your applicant will need at a minimum: an ID document, a few personal details for verification and online banking login (instead of bank statements and payslips).

The decision to accept tenants always rests solely with the landlord or their representative. Mietspector profiles offer data-driven and comparable support in the decision-making process. However, the consideration of a low score in the rental decision remains with the respective decision-maker. The Mietspector reliability index can also be helpful in this regard, as it allows conclusions to be drawn about the quantity and quality of the underlying data.

Data protection and data security are central to our endeavors and our business model. We are GDPR-certified and compliant, and meet the highest standards in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. We also ensure that our third-party providers meet corresponding standards and only work with those who do.

If you have commissioned a background check for your prospective customer, she does not need to create an account. If your prospective buyer commissions the background check herself, it is part of the purchasing process.
